Fifth Man Is Jailed For £40m Diamond Heist

A fifth person has been jailed for their role in a £40m jewellery raid - the biggest in Britain's history.

Craig Calderwood, 28, was sentenced to 21 years for his role in the raid at Graff Jewellers in Mayfair in London.
He was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court after a jury was unable to reach a verdict in a first trial in July 2010.
Despite four other people being convicted of the armed robbery, the jewellery has never been found.
The raid, on August 6, 2009, was carried out by a gang who wore ageing make-up and smart suits to pose as legitimate customers to get past the store's security guards.
Once they entered the store they pulled guns on the unsuspecting staff.
CCTV images released by Scotland Yard show the robbers forcing the manager into a spread-eagle position on the floor, while a shop assistant is made to empty watches, rings and earrings from the display cases.
The raid lasts just over two minutes, with the thieves stealing 43 pieces of jewellery.
As they flee the building, a female shop assistant is taken hostage.
The robbers clearly brandish their weapons as they stand in broad daylight, later shooting down the street.

Detective Chief Inspector Pam Mace, who has been leading the investigation, said: "This latest conviction is a successful conclusion to this part of what remains an ongoing investigation.
"I'd like to thank all the victims and witnesses who supported us throughout this prosecution despite the fact that it has meant reliving this violent incident.
"We have always said these individuals were recruited by others to commit the actual robbery."
In June 2010, Calderwood's accomplice, Aman Kassaye, 25, was convicted of kidnap conspiracy to rob and possessing a firearm.
In the weeks following, three other men - Thomas Thomas, 46, Solomun Beyene, 25, and Clinton Mogg, 43 - were convicted of conspiracy to rob.
The investigation continues as detectives search for those who recruited the five jailed men and a motorcyclist who is thought to have taken off with the jewellery.
